Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care offers a Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer Program where you can make a difference in the life of a Veteran.

 

The Veteran-to-Veteran Program aims to pair recruited Veteran Volunteers with Veteran Hospice Patients. Pairing Veteran Hospice patients with Veteran Volunteers, who may share common military experiences, gives these Volunteers the unique ability to relate and connect with their Veteran Patient thereby creating an environment where life review and healing may be enhanced by their common histories.

 

Veterans are a part of a distinct culture with their own language, codes of conduct, honor, respect for service, duty and commitment. When Veterans interact, their common language and experiences can form a strong relational bond.

 

Veteran Volunteers are offered a unique opportunity to focus on what they want to give. They can offer support to the Veteran patient directly or indirectly.
